The trick of cold weather clothes is layers. Right now in Boston my standard outfit is undershirt (in lieu of a bra, so you might not need this), long-sleeved shirt, t-shirt, optional extra-warm long-sleeved thing (usually I don't need this outside but it's good to have on hand for cold indoor places), winter coat. Keeping my core warm is sufficient to keep my legs warm, so BDUs are sufficient, but I do have some extra-warm long-underpants in case I'm going to spend an extended length of time in the cold outdoors.
