Have I ever mentioned how much I loathe doing the books for my folks?

Well, honestly, I dislike doing accounting in general, but I really don't like trying to sort out their books. Part of it is just that they're complicated and I don't know all the details so I end up having to go back and ask lots of questions and wait while they figure out the answers and part of it is that my mom's handwriting is horrible. It's amazing how much information she can squeeze into the tiniest of spaces in the ledgers, but it's equally amazing how difficult it is to read and/or decipher this information. (e.g. "It's filed under H, for toy"). Basically, it combines the best parts of tedium and confusion into a whole new level of misery.

So yeah, this is what I'm going to be doing for the forseeable future. I'd been putting it off as long as possible, but with tax season coming up soon, I really do need to crunch the numbers and get all the accounting stuff under control once and for all....

Of course then, once I'm done with their finances, I'm going to need to sit down and tackle mine and those will be almost as much fun because (as we have previously established) I am great at putting off doing stuff I don't care for and I'm sloppy and I just moved, so tracking down all my documents will be super fun....

Ok, back to work for another while.

  • Meet Dargo....

Pixel and I missed having a little black cat around so I went to the pound Saturday afternoon and I found this little guy in need of a new home:…

  • RIP Morticia a/k/a Ninja Cat :-(

My little black cat died tonight. It was a sudden and surprising end to a great little cat. I'm doing ok, but I will definitely miss that…

  • Still alive!

Yes, it's true, I am still alive. Nothing particularly earth shattering has been going on lately, I've just been busy with work and then coming home…
