Stupid stupid cold medicine....

Well I was quite pleased with how my corner desk extension had come out until I was going to put it in the house. I hadn't realized how hard the cold medicine had hit me until I managed to drop the desk on the way up the stairs. This caused some damage to a corner of the birch top. Now I'm not sure if I should remove the top and replace it with another panel I have or just live with it as is. I kind of just want to sort things on my desk again finally (i.e. leave it alone, call it finished, move on to the next project)....

Argh

Ugh.

My motor skills and coordination have been replaced by a sprig of parsley. Clearly this must be the work of the evil Dr. Tussin. Eh, At least the desk extension fits pretty much exactly as I had hoped and the legs are even (always a good thing ;). It still looks ok and most importantly it's quite solid. Hmmm....

Pars(ley)ing

I read this sentence as:

Someone has replaced the section of my brain that controls motor skills with parsley.

It's much funnier to picture things this way.

Re: Pars(ley)ing

I don't have motor skills with parsley. I may be kinky and perverted, but I have to draw the line somewhere :-p

However see if the edit helps clarify things
mmm, parsley. but what about mint? and thyme?
perhaps if you take enough cold medicine, you'll have an herb garden. that would be convenient, to have one in your head.
Well I might not have an herb garden in my head, but I'm certain it would feel like it. I think mint popped in there after a couple of screwdrivers ;)
How significant is the damage? Better or worse than the hole we put in the wall trying to get the boxspring up there? :oP hehe. Can sanding (and maybe a shot of paint) can't make it look basically as it was?

Hey, at least you didn't almost hit a kid yesterday...I nearly did..twice! Stupid kid kept running in and out of traffic...*sigh* (more on this later)
Actually the top is made of the birch panel stuff that Home Depot has for cabinet sides. Our cabinet guy left a couple of panels out in the rain a couple of weeks ago and I picked them up (scavanger that I am). I dried them off so they didn't get damaged and I attached one of them to the top of the extension.

Most of it is a cool looking satin black and the top is a lighter wood colored smooth stained finish (preferable to the rough and potentially painful plywood finish ;). It looks fairly ok. I do need to even out the 2 sides that I cut on the panel, but they face the desks and aren't that big of a deal. The part that broke off looks a bit lighter than the rest and it's on the cut sides so it is also possible to cover it up with desk stuff.

I'll show it to you next time you go over. It's not a huge problem, but it was one of those vaguely annoying bits of self-inflicted damage.

Eh, a few weeks ago I almost mowed down a family who decided to cross the Gateway during a green light (i.e I had the green). If not for the fact that had slowed down because I was going to turn right on Piedras, I probably wouldn't have been able to stop in time. They just stepped out into traffic (after standing still for a couple of minutes no less).

I'm convinced that some people have subconcious death-wishes.

Re:

i think you showed me those panels in the garage the other day when we took in the plywood and styrofoam panels. I was just thinking about it, was gonna ask if it was the corner was coverd by the desks or it was the outside one... either way, it sounds pretty cool, gonna have to check it out hehe
