Moi moi moi moi moi

So, I took some more me time today.

I played around with webstuff some more (and ended up deciding to start over). I baked some bread (mmmmm blueberry). I had lunch with the 'rents and generally managed to unwind. I really did need a weekend like this. Now I get to start over and really get cracking on different projects (some furniture, some car stuff, etc...) and see when I get visitors again.

I've been doing some soul searching lately and I think I'm finally sorting out some personal stuff that I've needed to sort out. I'll almost certainly ramble more about it when I think I've figured things out, for now, suffice it to say that I'm actually rather looking forward to the next several months.

For the immediate future (as in the next hour or so) though, I'm going to clean the dishes/kitchen and make some food for the coming week. I've re-discovered that homemade prepared food (i.e. intentional leftovers ;) is a great way to have good food cheaply during the week (and lately I'm all about being frugal).

"...homemade prepared food (i.e. intentional leftovers ;) is a great way to have good food cheaply during the week ..."

A very true statement. My s.o. frequently asks if I cook for the meal or the leftovers...
Well since I almost always end up cooking for myself it makes more sense to make a normal amount of (e.g. 3-4 servings) food that can be stored for a while and safely nuked throughout the week. I think most of my favorite recipes are of the type that will let me do that.

It was actually odd when J was visiting because she refuses to eat anything non-fresh. She would even refuse to eat day old microwaved pizza. That made figuring out what to eat a challenge. Given that my appetite rarely exactly matches normal portions, it seems like a huge waste to throw things away if I can't eat them in one sitting. Who knows, maybe I'm just not out of the college mentality yet :)
