The family gathering was amusing. It was actually more of a kids b-day party so there were random non-family people there (maybe 50% family, 50% normal folks). Some of the highlights were:
- Me + Jumping Balloon: I'd never actually been in one, but Ruben said he had gone in earlier and since I'm not that much bigger I figured it might be amusing. Jackie (my niece) ended up in there with Isabella (my niece) while the kids where busy eating cookie cake. I noticed them and figured I could get some good pictures (like this and this)so I followed them in. Since I was in there, I also went ahead and tried it out a bit. I established that I do not exceed the weight limit for a jumping balloon and that a jumping balloon can be rather entertaining. Once the little
monsterskids swarmed the balloon again I decided to exit and I made sure Jackie got Isabella out before someone landed on her. - The Reptile Show: One of the neighbors who was at the party raises reptiles. He brought over two bearded dragons and a ball python. The kids loved them. Angel and her friend Dana were surprisingly girly about them (i.e. "eee! get it away from me!"). I eventually ended up with all three reptiles using me as a heater. It was amusing.
- Random Conversations: One reason I like my family is that we're all rather geeky in our own ways. So invariably our conversations tend to be a bit odd, but entertaining. At different points we ended up having long discussions about a) computers, b) couches, c) cable, d) dating, e) cars, f) toys, and g) movies. We may not always see 100% eye to eye, but when we're all around and just chilling out it's really nice.
- Leftovers: I made off with a decent bit of cookie cake and an entire pizza (they seriously overestimated how much food they would need). Any party where I get leftovers that'll last me a few days, is a good party/gathering :). If I don't have to help with clean up afterwards, it's even better :-p.
After the party, I came home and knocked out for a few hours. I should have several good pictures to upload later (and I have requests to email some of them to a few different people). So no house stuff actually happened today. That'll have to wait until tomorrow.
