Flashing lights....

So, as I was getting ready to leave the house a little while ago, I heard sirens.

Being a confirmed city dweller I didn't really pay much attention to them until...

They got really really loud and the vehicle they were attached to stopped in FRONT of MY house!

There's no fire here! I'd know if I was having a fire. I'm not having an emergency either. There is no emeregency here.... Gah, what's going on?

Turns out my next door neighbors had some sort of medical emergency and this showed up a few minutes later.

So of course by that time I had run downstairs, grabbed my camera, and I had taken a few random pictures. Ghoulish? Nah, I came back inside before a body was brought out. To be honest, I don't know that a body was brought out. I decided to resist the temptation to peek out the window waiting to see what happened.

Of course being wicked me, I couldn't help but wish that it had been the neighbor that lived behind me that had the emergency ;).

Heh, I'm glad you liked it, that was actually the secondary reason why I posted the pics. I really like how the pictures came out. Most of them look pretty good, considering it was night photography under non-ideal situations, I was impressed.

I'm using a Canon Powershot S230. It's not the most powerful camera out there, but it's the perfect camera for carrying around and getting really good pictures (and it has many useful features). I almost always have it in my bag or in one of the pockets of my cargo pants/shorts. It's an Elph so it's freaking tiny but the quality of the pictures is awesome (I've printed out some good frame-able 8x10 shots that I took with it). I know Canon put out a new Powershot not so long ago, but from what I've heard this one is still a better camera despite not having the same specs. Ok, I'm going to stop being a Canon cheerleader, but I really like my camera.

Oh, and the random thing near the trees is a plane. I cranked up the length of exposure so I could take the pictures without a flash, but any moving light got stretched out. It's kind of a neat effect, I may have to go up to scenic drive and see how a nighttime shot of the city comes out.

If it was a UFO I would have hoped that it had taken the obnoxious neighbor who lives behind me. Although a search for intelligent life might have prevented them from considering him.

hey, sorry about Saturday night, I'd already turned off my phone and didn't turn it on 'til Sunday 'round 5...
