Windows 7 Beta

So, I decided to take a break from my packing and sorting in order to give Windows 7 Beta a try. I wasn't expecting much, but I was in for quite a surprise. It works flawlessly so far. I'm really impressed actually. I don't know how it'll do on a less hardcore machine (this one was about the highest end I could build at the time that I built it) but so far I'm really enjoying this little experiment.

Plus, the upshot being that I get to keep using this for a while and once they do release Windows 7 I think there's a good chance I'll actually buy a copy as an upgrade. I'm a little annoyed that I wasted the money on my one copy of Vista, but so be it. Now if only I didn't have to move. I probably won't get to really push this new setup to it's limits until I've settled down a bit out in Virginia.

Oh well, it was about time I started to work on my computer-fu and it's nice actually being successful at some things. I got Mac OS X running on my tiny Asus 1000H laptop Unfortunately I ended up going back to XP since I'm taking it with me on my trip. Even though I have a work provided cell phone and laptop I prefer to keep those largely for work-only so my current plan is to take the 2 laptops with me on my trip and then leave the work one in my office and keep mine in the hotel / house (assuming that I find one before I head back in a couple of weeks).

Moving and staying connected and comfortable is surprisingly complicated.

*GEEK* But I'm guessing you already knew this. It is also not said in a derogatory manner. I'm amazed sometimes at the outstanding geekishness I have on my friends list. I like it, because, since I'm not nearly geek enough, it keeps me somewhat informed. Yay for geeks.
