13 Ghosts....

Random note. I was watching the original 13 Ghosts on AMC just now. I gave up after about 45 minutes because it's just a little bit too silly. It's funny, I had heard such great things about the original vs. the remake that I was expecting something really surprising/good. I was quite a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's not a crappy movie, but I couldn't help but appreciating how much neater the new one was. Perhaps it's because in the horror genre (and sci-fi) it's hard to not see the special effects as they get older. In this case, the filming and the dated special effects were just a bit too much to handle at 2am.

I think that from now on I'm going to take the general "Oh the original was much better" with a grain of salt when it's referring to movies that relied heavily on special effects. Bad acting and crappy plots aside, some special effects movies really don't age well (and some age quite well despite the limitations of their effects).

Anyways, that was just a random late-night observation.
