Ghost World kicked ass, but it wasn't quite as sad as Dave made me think. I think that was partially because I couldn't quite connect with Enid's character as much as I think I was supposed to. Something about her fondness for doing things that were just really stupid or mean (like setting Seymour up on the bad blind date) just didn't go over well. Oh, and the bus stuff at the end was somewhat confusing. It was one of those times when I wish I had the director or writer sitting next to me so I could turn to them and go "Ok, I know what I got out of this part, but what exactly where you trying to say when you came up with this?" Considering how much fun (I thought) they were making of the whole "meaningful art" thing I was a bit surprised that the ending felt like that's what they were trying to do. Eh. still though, it's a great movie and the soundtrack is awesome so it gets a DS of 9.
Grrr..... My plan to remove brownies from pan before they cooled (a la Good Eats) did not work out right. Well ok, so I didn't do what they did in Good Eats, I just tried flipping it out and I have now verified through experimentation that flipping brownies out of the pan is not a Good Idea (tm). Next time I'll use the parchment paper. So anyhow, the brownies are now cooling and I need to shower, get dressed run to the bank and drive out to the Queen's neck of the woods. Hopefully I'll be there in 1.5 hours or so (I hope).
Ok, I'm off, wish me luck.
